Be careful with taxi drivers in Tashkent

Posted 1 year ago by avatar enrique in response to rohn's question: I want to know if there is anything I should be prepared for on my arrival in Tashkent, what to stay away from ...'cause I heard a lot of bad things happen to tourists in these poor Asian countries.. (give a different answer) .

You are a cold-headed person..it's very good for you to ask...I've been there with 2 friends last summer and had an unpleasant experience with the taxi driver:)) it's funny i'm laughing at remembering the episode..but we were pretty enraged then..we asked him to take us to the hostel we were to be staying..it was in down-centre and he told us it's a long distance ..he just drove us around some suburb streets and took us there in 40 minutes! we owed him like $50..if you imagine that there are only $6 km to the centre..and shouldn't cost more than 5 bucks..
